COMPETITION INFO


2020 PLAYING SCHEDULE

  • AM Wave (8am Thur-Sat): 12s, 14s, 17/18s
  • PM Wave (3pm Thur-Sat): 13s, 15s, 16s
  • All teams play at least 2 game on Sunday, June 28. 

FORMAT

  • Festival Format. All teams will play on all 4 days of the event.
  • All teams will play between 11 and 14 matches, unless they've elected to not play all days of the event.
  • First two rounds are pool play, Day 3-4 are either pool play or bracket play depending now the team has performed. AM wave teams should be done by 1pm unless they are in their age division finals; PM wave teams should be done by 6pm unless they are in their age division finals.
  • NEW: For a team's officiating assignment, the 2nd Referee must be a Qualified Adult Coach or Assistant Coach
  • Everyone plays in the Phoenix Convention Center. Schedules & Results will be posted on AES.

ONSITE TEAM CHECK IN

Team Check In is in the Phoenix Convention Center, North Building Room TBD.
  • Tuesday, June 23, 4-8pm; Wednesday, June 24, 9am - 6pm
  • Late check in Thursday, June 25: 7am-2pm North Building Room TBD (must be at least an hour before you play or ref).
  • Complete LATE CHECK-IN FORM to notify us is you will not check-in until Saturday.
At Team Check in you need to bring:
- A Medical Release Form (USAV form is ok) for all Players
- A copy of your AES roster with AAU numbers verified (use AAU Import quick link on AES)
- If AAU numbers are not showing verified, bring one of these three forms of verification:
*AAU membership card copy; or 
*AAU Club Listing (generated from AAU website Club Director Account); or 
*AAU Team roster (generated from AAU website Club Director Account).

Once checked in, you will receive a Team Bag with goodies and Team Credentials. 

A Club Director or Team Parent can perform the Team Check-In for one or more teams as long as they have all the proper documentation.

AAU MEMBERSHIP

The Volleyball Festival is a licensed AAU event.  All participating clubs, athletes and non-athlete adults on a team roster must be AAU members. 

Click HERE to acquire your Individual Coach or Athlete AAU Membership. The below instruction sheet will help Coaches or Club Directors navigate the membership process for the entire team or club.


Your AAU Membership is good for all sports through August, 2020. Below are other great AAU events.

Festival Fiesta Classic (Feb 15-17, 2020)
AAU West Coast Championships - Vegas (May 23-25, 2020)

PRACTICE TIMES 

Practices are Tuesday, June 23 (5pm-9pm) and Wednesday, June 24 (9:15am-5:30pm) in the Lower Level Exhibit Halls at the Phoenix Convention Center. The last 3 practice slots on Wednesday are 45 minutes long, otherwise, time slots are 60 minutes. If you want to practice at 3:15 or earlier, check in at the Tournament Desk for available courts. Check in 15 min prior to your scheduled time at the Lower Level Exhibit Hall Tournament Desk.

BALL REQUEST

Out of town teams can request a bag of 6 practice balls HERE beginning April 1 to avoid having to bag check balls during travel. If you only need balls for the practice sessions on June 23 or 24, DO NOT fill out this form as balls will be available at the Lower Level Tournament Desk. Balls are available on a first come, first serve basis.  We will confirm your request by June 5. Balls can be picked up at the Phoenix Convention Center Room TBD. A credit card number and copy of your Driver's License will be taken. $50 per ball will be charged to the credit card for any balls not returned at the end of the tournament. 

AGE WAIVERS

A max of two Age Waivers are allowed per team. For more details or to submit an online Age Waiver Request.
  • 12 Club: Born on or after September 1, 2007
  • 13 Club: Born on or after September 1, 2006
  • 14 Club & 13/14 Open: Born on or after September 1, 2005
  • 15 Club: Born on or after September 1, 2004
  • 16 Club & 15/16 Open: Born on or after September 1, 2003
  • 17/18 Club: Born on or after September 1, 2001 or born on or after September 1, 2000 AND is a high school student (12th grade or below) during some part of the current academic year.

PLAYING SITES

All matches will be played on Sportcourts at the Phoenix Convention Center.

The Baden VX450 Lexum Soft-Touch is the Official Ball of the 2019 Volleyball Festival. The VX450 u12 light is used for the 12u division.
